The Cooped Up Cake Kit

Creating the Cooped Up Cake Kit has been one of my favorite projects! I designed the kit with kids in mind during the pandemic when we were “Cooped Up” in the house. This kit was designed to equip you and your kiddos with everything you need to decorate a cake. I love how this kit makes decorating your own cake so convenient. No hunting down special ingredients, making an extra trip to the grocery store, or big messes to clean up.

My hope is that this kit will add a little something to a special day by creating memories and experiences in the comfort of your own kitchen.

Instructions:

1. Place one of the cake layers on a plate and squeeze out approximately 1/4-1/2 cup of frosting on the top of it using bag #1. Smooth frosting over the entire layer with a butter knife.

2. Place the second layer of cake bottom side up on top of the frosted layer.  Pipe more frosting over the entire cake and smooth with a butter knife.  There's an AWESOME video by “Cake by Courtney” on how to frost without cake tools.

3. Once frosted, the #2 bag of frosting with the metal tip can be used to create a design or decoration on the cake.  Now for my favorite part! Add sprinkles, toppers, and candy to create your masterpiece!

TIPS & TRICKS:

• Frosting: Refrigerate until about 30 minutes prior to using. The frosting should feel cool, but not too firm, and be easy to squeeze out and spread.

• Check out Courtney Rich's frosting without cake tools video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFsG_h4jWTs

• For less mess, separate all decorating elements into a muffin tin.

• Feeling fancy?  Add a layer of jam to the middle of your cake before you stack the layers.

One last thing.
Don't forget to share your creations!! #coopedupcakekit.  I can't wait to see the creativity coming from your kitchen table!
