Top 5 Valentine’s Day Cake Designs

Valentine’s Day is extra special to me because it’s the beginning of Wildflower Co. Three years ago I hesitantly posted a picture on Instagram of a little cake I made for fun and was surprised to get requests for Valentine’s Day cakes. And so it started!

You can never go wrong baking a heart shaped cake. I used my favorite chocolate cake recipe and a chocolate mousse filling for a rich yet simple dessert. I topped it with fresh spray roses and dried strawberries. A little edible pink dust sprinkled on top made it shimmer and feel extra fancy.

The OG. That first cake I made out of boredom (husband had deployed) and posted on my IG. Mini cakes are so fun and cute for special occasions. Vanilla cake layers with a strawberry filling and chocolate drip made this a perfect little Valentine’s Day treat.

Edible gold foil is one of the most asked for decorations on our cakes. Just a piece or two elevates the simplest designs. Heart shaped macarons made these mini cakes memorable.

Valentine’s Day desserts don’t have to be pink and red with dark chocolate drips. Light fresh colors can be a great alternative.

When in doubt make a chocolate tart. My favorite recipe comes from Downshiftology https://downshiftology.com/recipes/chocolate-truffle-tart/. It’s rich, smooth, and just the right amount of sweetness. It’s also gluten free and can be dairy free. Adding dried rose petals and edible gold leaf makes this a perfect Valentine’s Day dessert for a dinner party or Galentine’s get-together.
