DIY Floral Gift Box

Here’s an EASY step-by-step tutorial on how to create a gift box bursting with fresh flowers! Tailor your gift box to any occasion and have fun getting creative!

Supplies needed:

  • Scissors or shears

  • Knife

  • Tin foil

  • Floral foam

  • Water

  • Fresh flowers

  • Basket, box, or crate

  • Filling for box (shredded paper, tissue paper etc.)

  • Other gift items to add to gift box

  1. Measure the area you want to fill with flowers and cut the floral foam to fit. Make sure to take into consideration the height of the flowers you choose to use and (if you’re using a box with a lid) whether or not you want the lid to shut.

  2. Cover the bottom and sides of the floral foam with a layer of tin foil.

3. Run cold water over the floral foam to dampen but not over-soak before placing in gift box/basket.

Now for the fun part! Cut flower stems 1–3 inches in length and push into the foam. Arrange as desired.

Tip: Try to keep blooms all the same height and pointed upwards to get the “box bursting” effect.

4. Once floral foam is full of blooms, add in your gift elements. This one contains a bottle of wine to go with a wine aerator that was purchased from a wedding registry.

5. Fill in any gaps with tissue paper or shredded paper and add a card or note.
